Summary
The earthwork remains of a cairn recorded by the Ordnance Survey. Grinsell (1978) records 'cairn with retaining kerb well preserved on north and west. Central rectangular hollow consistent with removal of cist. Diameter 10.0m, height 1.0m'. Hemery (1983) states this was once the hub of seven manorial boundaries.

R. H. Worth describes the site as a very low cairn with a kerb-retaining circle (comment, 10/12/1948).
(18/04/1953) The 'Sepulchral Circle' is a cairn from 0.8m. to 1.2m. high, with a minor central excavation 0.5m. deep. The kerb retaining circle extends round the west and north quadrants. No hut-circles could be located.
(20/04/1960) A 25" survey has been made.

Originally interpreted as a tinners trial pit, but reconsidered and shown as a barrow. The central rectangular hollow is clearly visible.

Encircled cairn. Ring of close set orthostats 8.5m internal diameter. Cairn spreads beyond ring at 11.5m diameter and 0.6m high. Comparable to a Welsh cairn circle. Prominent siting.
