Watts, M., 2002, Week Farm, Milton Abbot, Devon, 13-14 (Report - Survey). SDV339695.
Week Farm, formerly part of the Duke of Bedford's Devon Estate, remodelled in early 1840s. Farm buildings, of stone and slate, form 3 ranges, west north and east which, with the farmhouse to the south, define an almost square yard in which there are 2 further buildings. A tall, 7-bay, 2-storey barn/granary (I) forms the dominant part of the north range. At the time of the survey the ground floor was covered with debris from collapse of floor and roof above but was predominantly mass concrete, with some cobbles surviving inside south door. Connecting door way to adjoining calf shed (H). Large, wide doorway to yard on south side. Several openings in north wall including a doorway to the mill room (J) and several smaller openings giving access to the mill machinery and belt drives. Walls plastered above first floor level with a mortar or cement fillet to cover edge of flooring - a typical feature where grain is stored or processed. 3 windows to south side on first floor. Door in east end opening onto raised loading platform comprising concret slab supported by granite post with flight of concrete steps Fully hipped roof stripped at time of survey but formerly slated. 6 trusses with vertical iron tie rods and cast iron apex pieces. See report for full details. Other details: Plates IX - XI.
