Wall shown along the north side of the 'Bideford Union Workhouse' on the south side of Meddon Street.

Front wall with railings of Bideford and Torridge Hospital on the south side of Meddon Street (Formerly Listed as: Torridge Hospital). Front area-wall with railings to workhouse, now hospital. 1837-9. Front area wall is mainly of stone rubble, except for the curved entrance sections which are probably of rendered brick. Apart from taller sections at the entrance ends, the wall is low with a chamfered coping and carries an iron railing with spearhead finials. At each end of the two straight sections is a square stone ashlar pier with a moulded cap.
