An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks associated with the construction of a new gas main, which extended alongside the A392 road over four arable fields from Forches Cross to Stover School. A linear cropmark is recorded on the line of the route, however the topsoil strip was not of sufficient quality to enable recognition of archaeological features, and scanning of the exposed surface did not reveal any artefact concentrations.
