Little information about Sturridge is available until the 18th century, by which time it was divided into 2 holdings. The Tithe Map of 1839 shows 2 groups of buildings marked 'Higher Stirridge'. The north of the site is bounded by a rectangular block orientated approximately east-west, coloured red to indicate they were dwellings. An L-shaped block of agricultural buildings, coloured grey, includes the standing barn and other structures of which some evidence remains on site. The 19th century census shows the dwellings were occupied until the 1860s. Archaeological observations made during monitoring of groundworks suggest the complex dates from the late 17th or early 18th century. Other details: Figures 3-5.
