The name of Bucks Mills suggests that it post-dates the mills. Deeds survive from 1608 and 1611 of new houses on the Woolfardisworthy side. In 1608 the location was described as 'Worthyeatt Clieffe' perhaps indicating its present name was not then general. Other details: 2348.
