Very roughtly shaped oval enclosure containing two buildings and a pond shown on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, to west of 'Lower' and 'Higher Carley'. Possibly the remains of a farmstead or settlement.

Carley (Higher and Lower) first appears in a document of 1230. The first element of the name may derive from the Cornish 'Caer' meaning a fort or camp.
