Summary
Farmstead at Aller dates to at least the 14th century, based on documentary evidence. The farmhouse (a former longhouse) is probably 16th century in date. Depicted on the Tithe Map, this farm was entirely redeveloped in the late 19th century, when owned by Lord Hambleden. Divided in the later 20th century; the farm buildings to the east of the farmhouse have been converted for residential use. Visited during the Dartmoor Historic Farmsteads Survey (2005).

The late 19th century historic map shows the layout of the farm is broadly the same as the Tithe Map depiction, although some alterations to the buildings appears to have occurred.
Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.
By the time of the early 20th century historic map depiction, the farm has undergone a complete redevelopment, with the barn buildings to the east of the house redesigned around a central yard.
Gover, J. E. B. + Mawer, A. + Stenton, F. M., 1932, The Place-Names of Devon: Part Two, 470 (Monograph). SDV337894.
Aller was probably the home of Walter de Alre i.e.: 'at the alder' recorded in the 1333 Subsidy Rolls.
Unknown, 1937, Memories (Article in Serial). SDV363556.
Article from January 1837 describes a fire at Aller Farm which began in the linhay. Confined to the linhay, stables and back kitchen it didn't spread to the house, but did 'consume' the other buildings.
Ordnance Survey, 1963-1996, 1963-1996 National Grid OS Metric (Cartographic). SDV350058.
Still shown as a farm at this time.
GetMapping, 1999 - 2000, Dartmoor 1999-2000 1:1250 Aerial Photography (digital) (Aerial Photograph). SDV345751.
The farm has been divided by the time of this photograph with the eastern barns converted to residential use and a new access road added to the east of the farm.
Humphreys, C., 2003 - 2005, Dartmoor National Park Authority Farmstead Survey 2003-2005, HF199 (Report - Survey). SDV344545.
Farmstead included in survey. Visited on 07/09/2005. Farmhouse dates to the 16th century, much altered in the 19th century. Barns (to the east) and stable / car shed (to the south of the farmhouse) date to the late 19th century.
Although not part of the Earl of Devon's Estate, the farmstead appears to have been purchased by Lord Hambleden, in whose ownership the farm buildings were completely redeveloped. The Datestone on Building 2 (1893) has the initials WFDS (William Frederick Denvers Smith) of Lord Hambleden.
Bodman, M., 2015, Mills on the Teign. A gazetteer of water-powered sites on the Teign and Bovey and their tributaries, 96 (Monograph). SDV360401.
Aller Mill, North Bovey SX 7434 8315. No evidence of a waterwheel here, but site is marked as 'Aller Mill' on Ordnance Survey mapping, so is likely there was one. Some details of owners for the 19th century given.
Richards, A. F., 2020, Curtilage listing of barns at Aller Farm. North Bovey (Personal Comment). SDV363497.
Despite the farm buildings to the east of the farmhouse having been separated from the farm property, sold off and converted for residential use, planners at Dartmoor National Park Authority have confirmed (27/01/2020) that the buildings retain their curtilage listing status.
Ordnance Survey, 2020, MasterMap 2020 (Cartographic). SDV363413.
Modern mapping shows the former farm, now divided with the eastern barns converted to residential use.
