Full description
Cook, J., 2006, Water/Sewage Treatment Infrastructure Near Exeter Airport, East Devon, 9 (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV344444.
Other details: Figures 8-12a.
Sheldon, L., 2010, Land Around Pinn Court Farm, Pinhoe, Devon. Archaeological Evaluation (Report - Evaluation). SDV347870.
Evaluation undertaken prior to a planning application submission for a proposed residential development of the site.
Trench (19) cut across anomaly identified by previous geophysical survey. Located at the centre of the trench were parallel north-south orientated ditches. A single sherd of post-medieval pottery was recovered from one of the fills. One of the ditches remained undated. Between these ditches remains of a probable clay bank was identified.
All three features correlate with linear anomalies identified by the geophysical survey and with a field boundary depicted on the Pinhoe tithe map of 1841 but which was not shown on the 1889 First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
Trench (29) identified a narrow, shallow ditch located towards the cneture of the trench. It had moderately steep south-western side, a gently sloping north-eastern side and a generally concave base. It contained a single, undated, fill.
A linear anomaly, identified by the geophysical survey, was not identified in the trench, but the above ditch appears to follow a similar alignment.
Dean, R., 2010, Land at Pin Court Farm, Broad Clyst, Exeter, Devon: Results of an Archaeological Gradiometer Survey, 12-13 (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV344434.
One of a number of complex linear patterns identified by geophysical survey north of Pin Court Farm. Likely to represent cut features and earthen banks with possible archaeological significance. Field and enclosure boundaries are archaeological features typically defined by such anomaly patterns. Other details: Figure 4, site 16; figure 9.
Wells, T. + Newton, L., 2020, Bronze Age Monuments and Iron Age Settlement at Pinn Court Farm, Exeter, 92 (Article in Serial). SDV364781.
The position of these land divisions may have been influenced by the earlier, medieval land divisions to the west, identified in excavation (SDV132580).
