Full description
Sheldon, L., 2010, Land Around Pinn Court Farm, Pinhoe, Devon. Archaeological Evaluation (Report - Evaluation). SDV347870.
Evaluation undertaken prior to a planning application submission for a proposed residential development of the site.
One pit dating to the medieval period was identified in Trench 32. The pit contained five sherds of probable medieval pottery along with 13 fragments of fired clay. The exact function of this feature remains unclear due to its limited exposure within the trench.
The feature broadly corresponds with the position of an anomaly identified by the preceding geophysical survey.
Dean, R., 2010, Land at Pin Court Farm, Broad Clyst, Exeter, Devon: Results of an Archaeological Gradiometer Survey, 12-13 (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV344434.
One of several high contrast anomalies, identified by geophysical survey to the north of Pin Court Farm, which are likely to represent human-influenced deposits of some kind. This anomaly may indicate mixed ferrous material and rubble, and/or burnt material. Further investigation may help to understand if any metal working or pottery production took place in this area. Other details: Figure 4, site 14b; figure 9.
