One of a number of small quarries distributed across the mine, usually the result of needing stone for the erection of buildings.This quarry, shown on the Tavistock Tithe Map of 1842, is the likely source of stone for the original Gawton Quay buildings. It appears to have been cut through the main access route to the mine before the slightly higher (and existing) route was used. It is approximately 10 metres from north to south and 6 metres from east to west, and has been partially cut into the side of the eastern hillside. Other details: Figure 3, Figure 36, site 26.2.
