Full description
Buck, C., 2009, South Hooe Mine, Bere Alston, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 46 (Report - Assessment). SDV344692.
The route of the ore tramway is shown on the 1856 plan of the mine, from the possible lower opening of the Incline Shaft and store room, to a point above the grinder house. The late 19th century Ordnance Survey map shows the route as a path. A small retaining wall appears to have been built above the site to form a flat base on which a tramway was built. There is no evidence for the tramway but a low retaining wall demarcates the flat area west of the store room and office building. Other details: Figures 6, 15, site 18.
