Full description
Buck, C., 2008, Weir Quay Smelters, Devon: Impact and Conservation Assessment, 27 (Report - Assessment). SDV344723.
The lower yard has southern perimeter walls of approximately 2.5 - 3.0 metres high (collapsed at the eastern end), and northern walls of approximately 3 metres high. Buildings were attached to both of these walls. The southern wall had stores built against it, except for a main access gate at the west end, whilst the northern wall had 'cemented tanks' attached at its western end. The ground surface has a covering of approximately 0.1 - 0.25 metres of earth and mud overlying the original cobbles and stones, as well as trees and bushes. Other details: Figures 5, 10, 22, site24.
