In the late 1400s two brothers purchased the the Burgoyne family estate; John and William Oxenham and the manor was renamed 'The Oxenham Manor' and became the family home for the Oxenhams. In the year 1477 the brothers 'leased' out the former monastery building in South Zeal (made a manor house by the Burgoynes), getting a license in order that it could become an Inn ('The Oxenham Arms').
