Main Workshops. This 28 foot span temporary brick workshop block is shown on the earliest known Air Ministry site plan, but its plan-form is 'U'-shaped, rather than 'A'-shaped as it is today. In its original form one wing was dedicated to engine repar and included an acetylene welders' and blacksmith's shop, whicle the other wing specialised in airframes and carpentry. They were joined together by a machine shop, offices and a store. The function of the extension is unknown, but it could have been an nstrument repair shop.
