The linear development of the former offices and workshops against the road perimeter wall, from the 1850s onwards to its final phase as shown on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey map, is demonstrated to good effect by viewing the rooflines of the buildings from the road and the perimeter wall. However conversion of these (mostly single storey) buildings for residential use has changed their character as seen from the inside of the site. Other details: Figures 17, 20, 22, site 56.

Passmore, A., 2019, Treyard, Weir Quay, Bere Ferrers, Devon: Building Recording and Watching Brief (Report - Survey). SDV365596.
Historic building recording and an archaeological watching brief were undertaken by AC archaeology on behalf of Roderick James Architects Ltd between October 2016 and January 2017 during works at Treyard, Weir Quay, Bere Ferrers, Devon. The building largely comprises a mid 19th-century industrial structure associated with lead smelting which has been converted for residential use.
The historic building recording confirmed that Treyard is largely of mid 19th-century date, being expanded in three phases over a short period of time. The watching brief of trenches excavated for a pair of bay windows and a balcony exposed largely made ground deposits containing much lead smelting waste. An extant surface of granite setts sat above the made ground to the rear of the property within an associated 19thcentury yard. Between the building and the riverside quay the made ground may have been deposited as part of consolidation of the ground leading to the adjacent quay. A previously suspected subterranean stone-lined water channel filled with modern concrete was also present beneath the yard surface. There were no finds from any deposits or features.
