Full description

Site visit 1983. Local stone or stone and cob. Thatch oldish and showing signs of deterioration.

Gittisham is an exceptionally attractive village with groups of cottages spaciously and informally arranged off the main street, mainly of cob, thatch and flint. Other details: Maps.

Outbuilding in use as off-licence. Probably late 18th/19th century. Rendered with a hipped thatched roof. Plan: Square on plan, adjacent to the old bakery. Exterior: Single storey. Small shop window on elevation facing the road; the right return has 2 plank doors. Group value with other buildings in the centre of the village.
