Full description

The west end of High Street is the commercial heart of the town with some residential accommodation over shops and behind the main frontage. The shops are punctuated by former coaching inns and 19th century banks. Although not on the statutory list, which regards Numbers 128 to 138 (even) and Numbers 142 to 184 (even) and Numbers 188 to 200 (even) as forming a particularly cohesive group, 134 to 138 (even) are on the Local List.
