Summary
A Holy well at Stidwell under Buckland Beacon. Mentioned as a boundary mark between Ashburton and Buckland in 1613 and 1771 and as the well to be divided in 1709. Stidwell was the subject of litigation following the building of a wall on the Ashburton / Buckland boundary which apparently isolated the buckland tenants from the water. The bounds were settled by arbitration in 1772.
