A shaft and an area of disturbed ground is shown on the 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map in Blackmoorham Wood on the north bank of the Tavy, opposite Virtuous Lady Mine.

Newman, P., 2011, Mining in the Tavy Valley, West Devon. An Assessment of Archaeological Potential, 13, 36 (Report - Assessment). SDV347105.

Wheal Bedford copper mine is first recorded in 1807. It was abandoned by 1812 and appears to have been still so in 1822. The mine was again being promoted in 1837. A waterwheel, 28 feet diameter by 8 feet wide, was advertised for sale in 1848 suggesting that the mine was closing again, or being reorganised. It appears to have been acquired by Lady Virtuous Mine in 1857. The latter closed in 1879. The extent of any surviving remains is unknown but could include shafts, spoil heaps and a wheelpit. Other details: Site 2.
