Summary

No longer exists, but is marked on a 1605 map of part of the Manor of Ashburton. It was apparently situated at the cross-roads now known as Welstor Cross, on the road from Ashburton to Buckland in the Moor. No trace of the cross was found in 1960.

A cross named Benecrosse, which no longer exists, is marked on a 1605 map of part of the Manor of Ashburton. It was apparently at the cross-roads now known as Welstor Cross. [For photograph of map of 1605 see Devon 198 SE 6]

[Cross approximately sited to SX 7395 7211, the position of the road junction published as Welstor Cross on O.S. 6" 1904-38.].

A cross named "Benecross", no longer exists, but is marked on a 1605 map of part of the Manor of Ashburton (citing Amery, 1924). It was apparently situated at the cross-roads now known as Welstor Cross, on the road from Ashburton to Buckland in the Moor (citing Masson Phillips, 1937).
(25/05/1960) No trace of the cross was found during investigation.
