Shop with accommodation over and house. Early 19th century, probably a remodelling of an earlier core. Mass wall construction, stuccoed and blocked out; asbestos slate roof, gabled at ends; left end stack with rendered shaft with platband; cast-iron gutters. Plan: double-depth plan, two rooms wide with, at the left end, a probably later, stone rubble block with different floor levels, lower roofline and rounded corner, reputed to have been a blacksmith's shop.
EXTERIOR: two storeys. Asymmetrical three-window front with regular fenestration. Adjacent front doors to the left, both recessed and six-panel, the upper panels fielded, both with overlights. Door to No.2 (to right) has reeded doorcase with cornice. To left a late 19th or early 20th century shop front with plate glass shop windows canted in to a glazed door with overlight. Two first-floor two-pane late 19th or 20th century horned sashes in earlier embrasures, first-floor window left an early 19th century 12-pane hornless sash. Lower-roofed block has a doorway with timber lintel and three-light 20th century plate-glass shop window.
INTERIOR: internal partitions altered for shop use. Dated 16th century timber said to have been found in No.2 Other details: Listed Building number: 392264.
