Old, disused quarry site (175 on Tithe Map). The rear face of the quarry faces south from the east-west ridge on the south side of the high land between Compton Castle and Marldon. The site is about 60 metres long east-west, 25 metres wide, and 8-9 metres deep, but very overgrown. The western end has had some new tracks bulldozed through and the west end of the quarry is used as a dumping ground for farm and domestic rubbish that is unsightly. Other details: Site Inventory map (2) 027.
Ordnance Survey, 2011, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV346129.
