Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

A small section of leat depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (approximately 1880s in date) from SX62005999 to supply the saw mill at Blachford at SX61596001.

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Leat depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map (approximately 1905-7 in date) but not named. Runs the length indicated to supply the saw mill (appears to have been extended since the late 19th century when the First Edition map was drawn.

Blachford saw mill leat, Cornwood surveyed and recorded between SX626615 - SX616600 (River Yealm). Dry. Take-off point destroyed. Channel needing lost of clearance work. Owner of Blachford said to be interested in using it to power saw mill (which it once did) and owner of New Barn said to want to restore millpond there. Other details: T:\Dartmoor Leats Survey / Q:\MAPDATA\HISTORIC\LeatsProject.
