Full description
Adams, E. A. + Dewey, H., 1950, Spindle Whorls Found in Devonshire, 328 (Article in Serial). SDV147932.
Spindle whorl found at Venton Mills in 1920 by Mr. A. Hawkins. Of yellowish-brown sandstone, with mica flakes. 38mm diameter, 15mm thick, central hole 9mm diameter. Venton Mill lies between Rattery and Tigley. A ruined cottage, barn and stable adjoin the field. Now in the Museum of Totnes Antiquarian Society at the Guildhall, Totnes.
