Granite quarry operated by Easton & Son in 1858, mid-19th century documentation states that stone extracted was used for paving in Exeter. Although still in commercial production in 1968, Harris records it as being out of use by 1986.

Many of the stone quarries on Dartmoor have closed since the 19th century and today, only those at Merrivale and Blackingstone (Bridford) are still in commercial production.
