Bread ovens dating back to the times of Henry VIII have been found in cottages in Woodbury Salterton. During alterations to rooms within one of the cottages, an old fire place was discovered, behind which were the ovens.
The ovens are igloo shaped and stretch back almost a yard into the wall. Ovens have been kept in situ.
Further discoveries within the cottage included cross-beams dating back 400-500 years, when the cottages were built.
