The socket stone has a modern sculpture on it.

Socket stone of medieval cross in garden south-west of Cross House. Socket stone of preaching cross. Medieval. Granite. Socket stone with moulded corners. The complete cross is said originally to have stood on the site of the entrance to Cross House. The base was used as a pigs trough and rescued from the foreshore of the Teign in 1927 and placed in the garden of Cross House by the owner.
