Full description

Toll House shown on the west side of the road junction at Five Lanes.
Walker, H. H., 1968, Occombe in the Parish of Marldon, South Devon, 143-4 (Article in Serial). SDV138116.
One mile west of Occombe lies the hamlet of Five Lanes through which ran the old road linking Exeter and the crossing of the Teign with Dartmouth. In 1765 this road was turnpiked by the Dartmoor Turnpike Trust and a toll gate was erected at Five Lanes. By 1832 it was unused. The remains of the toll house were removed recently to widen the road.
