Nos 12-32 (even), 32a, 34 and 36, Castle Street. Early to mid 19th century, two storey, some with attic. Red brick, some stuccoed and painted, mainly sash windows with centre glazing bars only. Nos 28, 30 and 32, doorcases with pilasters.

Pair of houses. Probably early 19th century, recast circa 1860s. Mass wall construction, stuccoed and blocked out; pantile roof, gabled at ends; left end stack and rear left stack with old brick shaft; cast-iron rainwater goods. No.28 has a wide entrance passage to the front of the range including the stair and the heated rooms, one behind the other to the right with a small rear left extension. Exterior: two storeys and attic. Asymmetrical three-window front, No.30 is considerably smaller. Paired pilastered doorcase to right of centre with capitals carved with lion's heads and dentil frieze below cornice. Four-panel front doors, the upper panels fielded and the lower flush, with overlights. Large windows with segmental-headed rusticated, stuccoed arches and keyblocks with an acanthus leaf in relief and moulded sill brackets. Windows glazed with four-pane horned sashes. Circa 1910 gabled attic dormers with bargeboards and casement windows with two small panes over one. Interior: No.28 has a circa 1900 stair with turned balusters. Joinery includes four-panel doors.
