Pair of lamp standards with pedestals at north entrance of Rock Park.
Probably 1879, with late 20th century tops. Limestone pedestals; cast-iron standards. Pedestals square in section with panelled sides; moulded caps with triangular pediment on each side enclosing octagonal bases for standards. Latter have round, tapered shafts, fluted and enriched, buttressed at the foot by 4 scrolls. Further scrolls projecting horizontally below moulded cap, from which rises a late 20th century shaft and electric-lamp holder. The original tops are shown in an early 20th century photograph belonging to Knights Photographers of Barnstaple (No F241).
Historical note: Rock Park was opened in 1879, having been laid out by RD Gould.
