Hayne Barton, mentioned in 1345. Situated above Ford Farm, the present house was built for William Holman in 1808. There was a Higher Hayne, and technically the present house should be called Lower Hayne.

By 1303 Hayne was one of three estates held by Walter de Langeden, according to the feudal aids.

Hayne Barton. Dated 1808 by Braddick. Whitewashed rendered cob; slate roof half-hipped at ends; brick stack at right end, brick axial stack. Double depth 4-room plan with a central entrance passage containing the stair with headed rooms on either side at the front. Large cellar. Two storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front. Sash windows. Marble chimney-pieces to both front rooms, large brick fireplace. Stair with stick balusters and a ramped handrail. A flight of heavitree stone steps leads down to the cellar which has a pitched stone floor with a drain, it may have been used as a cider cellar. A compact early 19th century house.
