Shop with accommodation over, now used as restaurant. Mid C19 but with earlier fabric to the rear; late C19 shop front. Local volcanic trap rubble and brick; front elevation stuccoed and blocked out; slate roof, hipped to left end; stack with brick shaft. Plan: 2 room with central entry. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front.Late C19 shop front to the left has pilasters with faceted panels and an entablature. 4-panel door to the right with an overlight with geometric glazing bars. 3-light high transomed shop window, the narrower light to the right flanked by pilasters and possibly converted from a doorway. Late C19 2-pane sash to ground floor right with margin panes. 2 circa mid C19 16-pane first floor sashes. Old cast iron street sign to Bowden Hill attached to front. The 2-window Dean Street elevation has been stripped of plaster except for a section to the first floor left. Stone rubble to the left with a straight joint then brickwork to the right - stretcher bond to the ground floor, Flemish bond above with a large trimmer beam at first floor level and smaller timber lacing below. One ground and one first floor circa mid C19 12-pane sash to the left, the ground floor window with a timber lintel. Blind window to first floor right, also with a timber lintel. Interior: Not inspected but known to contain features of interest including joinery. Prominent location near church. Included for group value.
