The New Quay Hotel is older than the quay, dating from the late 18th century when it replaced an earlier building.

Late 18th century. Recently a sealed-off room was discovered. The daughter of previous licensees found many things which linked the room to smuggling.

Hotel. Circa 1820. Painted stucco, hipped slate roofs with a rendered stack to the right. Double-depth plan with rear additions including the stable block. Exterior: three storeys; symmetrical three-window range. Moulded eaves cornice; 3/3-pane sash windows with a continuous sill band to the second floor; late 19th century horned 4/4-pane sashes with moulded semicircular arches and impost and sill bands to the first floor; 6/6-pane sash to the ground-floor left and a 20th century window to the ground-floor right. A painted granite Greek Doric prostyle porch with 20th century infill and door with overlight; 20th century door and overlight to the far right. The left return, facing the quay is two bays each with separate hipped roofs. The range to the left has a single-storey canted bay to the ground-floor with an 8/2-pane sash window, a 20th century two-light casement window to the first floor and a canted bay to the second floor with 20th century windows. Windows to the right (front block) are wide 6/6-pane sashes with margin panes to the ground floor, the upper floors each have one two-light casement window. The rear, in Osmond's Lane, has a 6/6-pane sash window to the second floor left over paired plate-glass sashes with a slate-hung wall below. A flat-roofed two-storey wing to the right has a 10/10-pane window to the first floor. The outbuilding to the left (north-west), a probable former stable and warehouse, has a hipped slate roof, weatherboarding to the first floor with double planked doors to loading bays to north and west sides, over a roughcast ground floor with 20th century windows and doors. Interior: not inspected.
