Nutwell court. Recorded as a separate estate in the domesday book, fortified by sir john dynham in the 15th. Century, a strong point in the civil war operations around exeter, the old house was acquired by the drakes in 1731. In 1755, the 5th. This work was cleared away at great expense in the 19th. Century and it is now a stuccoed late georgian block of 5 by 5 bays and the entrance has a soanian loggia (scott).
