Title:Dunkeswell
Originator:Weddell, P. J.
Date:1986
Summary:Report giving the history of the site, evidence of surviving remains and details of the plan of the monastery. The abbey was founded in 1201 and surrendered to the crown in 1539 and subsequently sold. It appears that there was no large scale robbing of materials at the dissolution and it retained extensive ruins into the 19th century. The remains of the conventual church were demolished in 1840-1 and a new church built in 1842. Most of the plan of the site is recoverable and the preservation of the surviving remains generally good.
