Summary: | Excavations undertaken in 1997 and 1998 uncovered a number of archaeological features dating from 17C-19C, overlying or cutting through a late medieval or early post-medieval layer containing human bones from disturbed burials. Earliest feature was a stone land drain from same period set into surface of layer containing skeletal material. Uppermost levels produced architectural fragments and roofing slates originating from medieval fabric. These included at least 6 fragments of a late medieval tomb. |
