| Summary: | Archaeological monitoring and recording undertaken during excavation of a test pit to determine bridge deck construction and investigate a potential unknown service previously identified.
A layer of modern tarmac and two made up layers were found to overlay and abut a corbel circa 0.3 metres down from ground level, about 1.15 metres down from the bridge parapet. The corbel was constructed of the same stone as the parapet and appeared to have been repointed and possibly rebuilt in the 20th or 21st century. |
