37 HOUSEHOLDS RECORDED IN 1301 LAY SUBSIDY Form: Occupied Building (04/1982) (1 - 34)

The development of estate villages of Duncambe Park and their neighbours were studied and published in 2005 by the Yorkshire Vernacular Buildings Study Group. (39)

A dissertation study assessed in what way and to what extent was the influence that the Scandinavians had on the settlement structure of the existing population. Focussing on Ryedale, two hypotheses were used, 1) the Scandinavians were assimilated into a pre-existing, and rather ancient, territorial structure and 2) that a new structure of land holding and patronage was created as a result of the interaction of the Anglo-Saxons and the Scandinavians. (40)
Included in the Gazetteer of Markets and Fairs.(41)
