THOUGH DOCUMENTARY REFERENCES CLEARLY REFER TO A CASTLE AT OR NEAR HOOD IT HAS NEVER BEEN LOCATED. THE EARTHWORKS ON HOOD HILL SEEM AN UNLIKELY SITE THOUGH IT HAS ON OCCAISONS BEEN DESCRIBED AS A MOTTE AND BAILEY.
