Summary : The following Roman stones have been found at Drumburgh: An inscribed stone Cohors VII found built into the gable of a stable opposite Drumburgh Castle. Now in Lowther Castle. An inscribed stone COH VIII found built into the wall of a house at Drumburgh. In Castle Museum, Newcastle. A sculptured stone (? Minerva) found while ridding out a portion of the Wall near Drumburgh a few years before 1875. Now in Lowther Castle. An inscribed stone Pedatura. Vindo. Moruci, found in July 1859 at Drumburgh. Now in Lowther Castle. The lettering of this stone is perhaps of the 4th century AD. |
