More information : Part of an altar dedicated to Hercules found in, or before, 1801 in an enclosure called Kiln Garth on the line of the Roman Wall near the northwest corner of Burgh-by-Sands fort. Now built 8' up in the west wall of a stable at Cross Farm, immediately south west of the first cross roads west of Burgh Church. Full details of inscriptions. (Suggests probable site of temple, although not noticed by Lewis' Temples in Roman Britain 1966). (1)
The visible portion of the altar measuring approx 0.3m by 0.3m is at NY 3272 5912. Kiln Garth was unlocated. (2)
There altar is extant; there is no evidence for the existence of a temple. (3)
