More information : A Roman tombstone, 44" x 24" x 6" thick, showing signs of calcination and completely shattered, bearing, under a pediment, in which a fir-core-like object appears, the inscription:- D.M./IVL PR////SVE /CO//VGIC/PC It was found in digging house foundations at Trinity Terrace, Corbridge, a little east of the site of Corstopitum. Near it were two large runnel stones apparently on the site of a conduit used for bringing water from the direction of Prior Mains to the Roman station. (1) The stone is in the Blackgate Museum.
