More information : A building stone of millstone grit, 15 1/2 by 13 inches,
found in 1961 in the packing of the fourth century road outside
the east gate of Bainbridge fort, has a recessed panel with the
following text:-
COH VI NER/7 IVLI/MARTINI.
Cohors VI Nerviorum was the third century garrison. (1)
