Summary : A Centurial stone was found in 1796 in the Roman fort at Manchester.
More information : (SJ 832976) Centurial stone (1) found 1796 (2) in "removing rubbish that obstructed and Praetorian gateway" (1) (of the Roman fort Manchester). Dimensions 15 ins by 11 ins, see illustration (2). It was in the possession of Dr Charles White until his death in 1813 but since lost (1). (1-2)
