Summary : A Post Medieval pillow mound, visible as earthwork banks and ditches, was mapped from aerial photographs taken in 1946. Located on Wain's Hill, the pillow mound, centred at ST 3912 7060, consists of a subrectangular elongated earthwork bank, aligned NE-SW and about 29 metres long and 5 metres wide, around which is a ditch between 1 and 2 metres wide. Shown on the 1st edition of the 1:2500 scale OS map dated 1884-1885, the pillow mound is associated with two further pillow mounds about 65 metres to the WNW (ST 37 SE 40). The pillow mound is still visible in aerial photographs taken in 1985. |

Located on the Iron Age promontory hillfort (ST 37 SE 1) on Wain's Hill, the pillow mound, centred at ST 3912 7060, consists of a subrectangular elongated earthwork bank, aligned NE-SW and about 29 metres long and 5 metres wide, around which is a ditch between 1 and 2 metres wide.
