By calculation turret 65B should lie under Stanwix fort (1a). An excavation by C Daniels in 1975, at the measured position of turret 65B, found only wall core (1b). The position of the turret and no adequate locational information from authority 1c to position the excavation on the RCHME 1:2500 plan. (1)
