More information : A charcoal-burning platform lies in Great Birchcleeve Wood centred at SS 87033040, half way up the steep, oak-wooded slope rising from the River Barle to the north-east.

The platform is almost circular and measures 5m across the slope by 4.6m and is cut into slight natural levelling. Around the site there is a large amount of animal burrowing. The surrounding wood contains evidence of ancient coppicing.
