More information : TA 184 289. Twyers Hill. A survey of 1991 carried out by the Humbs Archaeol Unit showed the well-preserved survival of earthworks of a medieval moated enclosure and associated ponds, possible additional buildings including the site of a chapel, and a windmill mound, all of which were surrounded by a medieval field system. The documentary record shows that the site was occupied by the de la Twyer family from the 12th to at least the 14th centuries. In the 19th century the site was crossed and partly disturbed by a racecourse. (1)
