More information : Medieval shrunken village remains of the village of North Witham were seen as earthworks on poor quality air photographs. To the west of the River Witham there is a field system comprising three bank -defined fields approximately 70m wide (centred at SK 9264 2168), two buildings (8m wide) and three crofts (48m long), centred at SK 9268 2177. Also recorded was a series of four enclosures (32m wide, centred at SK 9266 2148) probably for agricultural use, and three blocks of ridge and furrow (centred at SK 9263 2143), ranging in length from 60m to 120m. To the east of the river, running east - west is a hollow way approximately 160m long, centred at SK 9279 2161. Following the line of the hollow way are six large, roughly rectangular depressions, approximately 20m long (centred at SK 9282 2156), they were interpreted as robbed out buildings. (Morph Nos.
